Some important information about attending a workshop with Genevra at the Alchemies Studio
Genevra Jolie is a fully insured and certified practitioner and teacher of the Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls, fully endorsed by Crystal Tones®. Workshop sessions take place in the Alchemies Studio, East Sussex, with Genevra for an agreed period that is decided before the session. During the workshop, we will either be seated on comfy mats on the floor or on chairs. If most attendees prefer to be seated, we will sit on chairs for the duration (except for the sound bath, where we can lay on comfortable mats with pillows and blankets). We will learn about the bowls, and each have one or two bowls to play together in the morning. The studio will remain open for one hour following the workshops for anyone who wishes to purchase bowls from our collection.
What will we learn?
Genevra will share her knowledge on how the bowls are made and the different types of alchemies available today. We will talk about the notes, the colours, the textures, the harmonies and their more profound reflections. We will talk about the nature of sound healing, what it is and is not—the true science of expression and what we receive when we hear the bowls. We will talk about sound healing techniques that have been taught, what is no longer relevant as we advance and deepen, and what resonates with you and what doesn’t. We will learn to listen to our bodies and align ourselves with an inner vibration: harmony, peace, stillness and joy. Finally, we will learn how to play the bowls using different mallets and refine our playing techniques.
What will we not learn:
This is not a practitioner training course. We will not receive a certificate that enables us to practice professionally. We will not learn about the chakras, corresponding notes or intention. We will not learn healing techniques or systems of healing.
Refusal of treatment
You are not permitted to attend the Alchemies Studio under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs and will be asked to leave if so. If you are taking prescribed medication, please ensure this is outlined in the form.
Precautions and Contraindications for receiving the sound of Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls:
Pregnancy
It is believed that there are many positive and beneficial effects to be gained from sound and vibration on the growing foetus. Hearing the crystal singing bowls is always very gentle around the pregnant mother for the healthy and positive effect of both mother and baby. However, sessions where the Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls are played, are not advised when less than 12 weeks pregnant.
Epilepsy
According to the Epilepsy Action support services, there is a rare form of epilepsy where music or sound (bells, music, humming, buzzing, animals, car horns, etc.) can trigger an epileptic seizure. The sound is unique to the person who is usually aware of their triggers. This is linked to those people with brain lesions which are usually detected early in life, and most clients will be fully aware of their condition and triggers and would more than likely avoid this type of treatment. Therefore, neither healing sessions with Genevra nor receiving the sounds of the Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls sound are suitable for people with epilepsy.
Brain Injury
In the case of recovery from brain injury, it is not advised to have sound vibration as a therapeutic intervention.
Mental Health
Mental illness can range from anxiety, depression and mood disorders (that have a severe and tangible effect on your emotions and motivation) to psychotic disorders like schizophrenia (that affect your perceptions or senses with delusions or hallucinations). Living with any of these can be debilitating. We rely on our minds, feelings, and perceptions to get through the day. When any of those fail, it can make life difficult. Neither Healing sessions nor receiving the sounds of the Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls are suitable for people with severe or clinical mental health conditions.
Implants or plates in the body (metal plates, pins, ball joints in particular)
An implant is a synthetic medical device manufactured to replace, support, or enhance a biological structure. The surface of implants in contact with the body might be made of a biomedical material such as titanium, silicone, or apatite. In some cases, implants contain electronics, e.g. artificial pacemakers and cochlear implants. The vibrations we experience when an Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls is being played may cause discomfort through the pulse of the sound transferring into the metal place or implant and even move or disrupt its function. It is best to make an informed decision and seek advice from your GP if you are concerned.
Minors (under the age of 18)
The mentoring sessions are not open to children under the age of 18.
